EVAN (European Virtual Anthropology Network) was initialised under the direction of the Institute of Anthropology, University of Vienna, in 2006. It is a Marie Curie training programme of the EU Commission, which will supports (from 2006 to 2009) more than 30 junior scientists of paleoanthropology, medical sciences, computer sciences and engineering to develop new methods and procedures to display and process 3-D images for their specific research area.
15 international partners from academic and economic sectors joined together – among them the Neanderthal Museum. From 2006 to 2008 Pricilla Bayle, a Marie-Curie stipendiary, did her research project on the evolution of human teeth at our museum. She used high-resolution CT-scans, which were subsequently archived at the NESPOS online-database.
