Research Projects
The Neanderthal Museum Foundation pursues an interdisciplinary academic approach beyond it’s purely museographic remit. It is an internationally recognised institution with an emphasis on research of the early history of humanity. Apart from participation in international excavations and research projects, the Museum holds the world’s largest database for glacial archaeology: NESPOS. At the same time the Museum sets up a network with laymen to activate and reinforce investigations on local prehistory.
International conferences and symposia are held at a regular basis which generate interdisciplinary contacts and spark new ideas and perspectives. Results are published in one of our scientific series.
