To hunt animals, people made wooden spears already 400.000 years ago. The oldest spears were found on a site in Lower Saxony.

Kawiuk: Spears, as the one the man is working on, were the most common hunting weapon. A stone spearhead was fixed to the shaft with glue made from birchbark and sinew.
