By car or bus
By car:
Autobahn A 46
Wuppertal-Düsseldorf, take the exit towards Haan-West, continue until you reach Hochdahl, and then follow the signs "Neandertal" and "Neanderthal Museum" respectively.
Autobahn A 3
Köln-Oberhausen, take the exit towards Mettmann, continue until you reach Mettmann-Zentrum, and then follow the signs "Neandertal" and "Neanderthal Museum" respectively.
Parking:
Especially on weekends and public holidays, parking space right in front of the museum may be difficult to find. Therefore, we recommend entering the following into your navigation system:
Mettmann - special destination - parking - Park and Ride Parking Space Neanderthal
This parking lot is right above the museum. It will take you about 5 minutes to walk to the museum from here.
In addition, there is a smaller parking space directly across from the museum on the Talstraße. From here, it will also take about 5 minutes to walk to the museum.
Attention: Many navigation systems do not recognize the address of the museum (Talstrasse 300).
In this case, simply input Talstrasse and then follow the signs leading you to the museum.
More parking can be found in front of the retirement home Neandertal, Talstrasse 189. From here it wil take about 20 minutes to walk to the museum. Alternatively, you can park on the premises of the company Erwepa, Mettmanner Strasse 1, Erkrath. From here, it will take about 15 minutes to walk to the museum.

By public transport
Regio Bahn (S 28)
Kaarst – Neuss – Düsseldorf - Mettmann: Exit at Neanderthal; 5 minutes to walk to the Museum.
S-Bahn (S 8)
Mönchengladbach – Düsseldorf - Hagen - Exit at Hochdahl, 15 minutes to walk to the Museum.

Mettmann – Hilden - Exit at Neandertal, right in front of the museum

Mettmann – Erkrath: Exit at Neandertal, right in front of the museum
By plane
Starting from Düsseldorf Airport take the RE 1, RE3 or S1 in the direction of Düsseldorf main station (Hauptbahnhof).
At Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof change trains into the S 28 (platform 13) in the direction of Mettmann, get off at the stop Neanderthal.
The whole journey will take 32-46 minutes, you will need a ticket stating "Preisgruppe B".
