NMsee: inclusion at the museum

From 2019 to 2021, the Neanderthal Museum will be made accessible for guests with visual impairments by implementing an inclusive concept within the permanent exhibition. The inclusive concept of research project “NMsee” combines new infrastructure, tactile exhibits and labels as well as a new information medium – an app game – to provide inclusive access.

This concept is being developed and tested by members of the Federation of the Blind and Partially Sighted in Nordrhein (BSVN e.V.) in co-operation with the Foundation of the Neanderthal Museum. The aim is to research on how the concept’s individual elements can make archaeological content more accessible. The research project has a term of 3 years, news about the project are communicated over the museum’s Social Media and the project leader’s Twitter Account: twitter.com/ARiethus
