Workshops for Schools
Führung zur Humanevolution

In our Stone Age Workshop we offer a variety of archaeological technology workshops suitable for students of all ages. After an introduction to Stone Age crafts and technology, we produce artefacts from natural materials
The anthropological workshops are suitable for secondary students (ages 13 & above). Together we examine casts of both human bones and famous fossil finds.

Forensic Anthropology Special

(from lower secondary, ages 13 & above)

You will make very interesting observations during your forensic investigation on human skeletal reconstructions.

Fossil Find: Ape or Human?

(from lower secondary, ages 13 & above)

Pupils will examine in small groups at five stations the reconstructions of famous fossils (e.g. the Laetoli foot prints). Pupils will determine whether they are the remains of an ape or a human. Expert-led observations alongside skeletal reconstructions of apes and humans will assist the practical assessments.

Human Fossils

(from upper secondary, ages 16 & above)

You would like to be well prepared for your Zentralabitur exam in biology? Pupils will examine 12-15 high-quality reconstructions of human fossils. By applying morphological criteria pupils will assign the fossils to their genus (and species) and discuss critically their allocation within the time span of human evolution. Led by experts, pupils will gain insights not only into the current state of research in palaeoanthropology but an in-depth understanding of the topic.

Design your own exhibition!

(from lower secondary, ages 13 & above)

How does a curator design a museum exhibition? Bring 3 items that you associate with the topics “Past and present”, “Memento” and “Leisure”. With your brought items and other objects pupils will create their own collections and design a small exhibition. They will present their exhibition to their class mates and thus gain insights into the three main functions of a museum: collect, exhibit and mediate.
